Sink colanders intend to add efficiency to your food preparation, providing a place to drain pasta and rinse fruit and vegetables.

This kitchen essential should be sturdy enough to support frequent use, with an appealing design that allows water to drain thoroughly from its base.

Kitchen colanders can be constructed from various materials, such as plastic or stainless steel, with the ideal design depending on your preferred look and budget.

Our Colander Range

ABI Interiors offers colanders in varying sizes and finishes to complement your kitchen design.

Sink Colanders

Our Felicity Kitchen Sink Colander Accessory features a sleek rectangular design that can be placed inside or above our stainless steel sinks, supported by its edges. Aside from draining food, it can also be used to dry cups or hold your dishcloths, hand soap, and dishwashing detergent.

It’s extremely durable and has rubber points to secure it in place while protecting the surface of your sink and bench.

Felicity is available in brushed brass, brushed copper, brushed gunmetal, and stainless steel, making it easy to integrate seamlessly into your kitchen design.

Colander Inserts

We also stock a Colander Insert as part of our Entertainer Series, created to fit into our Ice Trough and be interchanged with other accessories in this range. Its slotted design provides a compact space to drain and defrost food or store other items such as ice.

This mini sink colander features WaterSense acoustic cushions to subdue the sound of water impact. It’s available in brushed brass, brushed copper, brushed gunmetal, and stainless steel.

Colanders FAQs

Do your colanders work with all of your sinks?

The Felicity Kitchen Sink Colander Accessory has been designed to perfectly fit the dimensions of ABI Interiors’ stainless steel sinks. The compatibility with other sinks will depend on the design and specifications of that sink, which you can compare to the colander’s dimensions under ‘Product Documents’ beneath the ‘Downloads’ tab on the product page.

Our Colander Insert is specifically made to fit our Ice Trough

What is the difference between a colander and a strainer?

While both can be used for draining water from pasta, a colander is a vessel with a perforated bottom (holes or slots), and a strainer features a fine-mesh basket. A strainer is more appropriate when rinsing smaller food items that may fall through the holes of the colander, such as rice.

Is a plastic or metal colander better?

This depends on your preferred style and what you’ll be using your kitchen colander for.
If you’re only draining cold foods, a plastic colander will work fine, but if you want the option to strain hot foods, a stainless steel colander will be much more appropriate as it can withstand higher temperatures. Stainless steel colanders are also more aesthetic with their elegant finish.
